Companies House identity verification, done for you
Company directors and people with significant control must now verify their identity with Companies House. As an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP), YVB can carry out that verification for you, quickly and without you wrestling with the government systems.
What has changed
Under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, Companies House now requires identity verification for the people behind UK companies. New directors and people with significant control (PSCs) have needed to verify since the requirement went live in November 2025, and existing directors and PSCs are being brought in as their companies file their next confirmation statement during the transition period. Verification is not optional: without it, appointments cannot be registered and filings are ultimately blocked.
Two ways to verify, one of them painless
You can verify directly with Companies House using GOV.UK One Login, photographing your identity documents and completing the checks yourself. It works, but it is another government account, another app and another thing to troubleshoot when a document fails the automated check.
The alternative is verification through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider. An ACSP is a supervised agent, registered with Companies House, permitted to verify identities on its behalf. We check your documents, complete the verification and give you the personal code you need, usually within one appointment. If you are already a client, we can fold it into work we are doing for you anyway.

Identity verification questions
Who has to verify their identity?
All company directors and people with significant control, plus the equivalent roles in LLPs. If you hold several directorships, one verification covers all of them; you verify as a person, not per company.
What happens if I do not verify?
New appointments cannot proceed, and once your transition deadline passes an unverified director cannot validly file. Acting as an unverified director where verification is required is an offence, so this is a deadline worth beating comfortably.
I am not a YVB client. Can you still verify me?
Yes. Verification is available as a standalone service, and if you later want help with the accounts behind the company, you will already know where we are.
