YVB Accountancy is an independent Leeds practice, established in 2012, working with businesses across the UK. Here is who we are and how we work.
From humble beginnings to 6-figure managing director
Yvonne came to the UK as a first-generation immigrant with nothing to her name and no network, only an unwavering work ethic, pure intentions and a clear conviction that good finance at its heart is about helping people. She started at the bottom, as an administrator, and worked her way up the long way: data analyst, management accountant, then capital accountant in the finance functions of companies including Unilever and Centrica plc, studying with CIMA alongside the day job.
The climb was anything but smooth. She was made redundant six times, took a heavy hit in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis, and was raising a family through all of it. She never quit. In 2012 she stopped rebuilding other people's finance functions and started her own: YVB Bookkeeping Services.
The first client was her local church café, served unpaid, adding value without adding price, as she puts it. It was her first taste of sitting across a table and explaining someone's own numbers back to them. After that came leaflets and business cards, handed out on foot around Leeds, and a client base built slowly, on trust, one recommendation at a time. By 2019 the practice was doing well enough to hire its first member of staff.
Then came Covid-19. Businesses everywhere were struggling, social distancing made client management harder than it had ever been, and the world seemed to go on pause. Yvonne did not. She ramped up the hours, kept pushing, and led the team through the uncertainty to a Luca Award from the ICB in 2020. By 2022 the practice had passed six-figure revenue.
Today the practice is YVB Accountancy, a team of four serving businesses across the UK. Fourteen years on, it still runs on the belief Yvonne arrived with: that good finance at its heart is about helping people.

YVB Accountancy works from Oaktree House on Oakwood Lane, a short way north-east of Leeds city centre. Clients are welcome here by appointment, and this is where the day-to-day work happens, for businesses across the UK, with client site visits when they help.
We are open 9:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday.

YVB is a practice licensed by the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (practice number 21473) and works daily across Xero, Sage and QuickBooks.
