Books that are always up to date, and always make sense
Bookkeeping is where YVB began and it is still the foundation of everything else we do. Accurate, current records on Xero, Sage or QuickBooks, kept by people who understand what the numbers are for.
What we take off your desk
Most owners do not resent bookkeeping because it is difficult. They resent it because it eats evenings and it punishes small mistakes months later, at VAT time or year-end. Our job is to make the whole subject disappear from your week.
- Sales and purchase ledger processing, kept current
- Bank, credit card, PayPal and card terminal reconciliations
- Control account reconciliations, so the balance sheet actually balances
- Accounts receivable and payable, including polite but persistent credit control
- Asset registers and depreciation schedules maintained
- Cash books and cash flow visibility
- Year-end close, adjustments and a tidy handover for accounts preparation
Where an accountant, auditor or specialist tax adviser is involved, we prepare records their way and liaise with them directly. Clean records mean fewer of their hours, which means lower fees for you.
Handled from our Leeds office, wherever you are
Day to day, your books are kept from our office at Oaktree House, through cloud platforms and secure access to your systems, so it makes no difference whether your business is in Leeds or Lands End. When it helps to sit down together, at onboarding, a system change or a thorny quarter, we visit your site. You get an established office you can always reach, without ever needing to travel to it.
Catching up from behind
If the books have slipped, months or even years, you are not the first and we will not make you feel like it. Backlog work is a routine part of the practice: we clean up what exists, rebuild what is missing and get you to a position you can maintain.
Bookkeeping questions
How often will you update our books?
That depends on the volume of transactions and what you need from the numbers. For most clients weekly or monthly works well; businesses that live off their cash position often want more frequent updates. We agree a rhythm at the start and keep to it.
Which software do you work with?
We work daily in Xero, Sage and QuickBooks, including QuickBooks Online. If you are on spreadsheets or an older system and want to move, we handle migrations as a separate, carefully managed piece of work.
Do we still need an accountant?
For many businesses, yes, for audit or specialist tax advice, and we work hand in glove with them. What changes is that they receive clean, reconciled records instead of a shoebox, which shows up in their bill.
Her willingness to get the tasks accomplished on time are what make her stand out from other services I have used in the past, and I would recommend anyone looking for bookkeeping services to look no further.
